TROMBOSIS EXPERIMENTAL E INMUNOBIOLOGÍA DE LA INFLAMACIÓN

El Laboratorio de Trombosis Experimental e Inmunobiología de la Inflamación investiga los mecanismos celulares y moleculares que participan en la fisiopatología de la trombosis y en los procesos inflamatorios, tanto crónicos como autoinmunes. Su objetivo general es comprender cómo se originan y regulan estos fenómenos, generando conocimiento que contribuya al desarrollo de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas.

Una de las líneas de investigación se orienta al estudio de la interacción entre las células del sistema inmune innato, las plaquetas y el endotelio. Este abordaje permite analizar los mecanismos de activación y comunicación entre estas células clave, fundamentales tanto para la hemostasia fisiológica como para la tromboinflamación patológica.

Otra línea de trabajo se centra en la generación de megacariocitos y plaquetas en contextos inflamatorios o infecciosos, mediante un modelo in vitro a partir de células madre de sangre de cordón umbilical humano. En esta línea se busca comprender cómo distintos contextos modulan la producción plaquetaria y la diferenciación de megacariocitos con fenotipo inmune.

El laboratorio también investiga la diferenciación y función del linaje monocito/macrófago, reconocido por su alta plasticidad funcional. Esta capacidad le permite integrar múltiples señales del microambiente y adaptarse a distintos escenarios, como la inflamación, la reparación tisular o las infecciones.

De manera integral, el laboratorio busca desentrañar los vínculos entre inflamación, trombosis e inmunidad, tres procesos estrechamente interconectados que contribuyen a la génesis y evolución de diversas patologías humanas.
