Dr. Analía Trevani is a biologist trained at the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), where she also earned her PhD in Biological Sciences. Since 1998, she has been a researcher at the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), working in the immunology area of the National Academy of Medicine. She currently serves as Principal Investigator at CONICET and Regular Adjunct Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine, UBA. In addition, she heads the Innate Immunity Laboratory at the Institute of Experimental Medicine (IMEX, CONICET–National Academy of Medicine).

Her research focuses on elucidating how cells of the innate immune system, particularly neutrophils, respond to pathogens and tissue injury. Together with her group, she helped to demonstrate that neutrophils are significant producers of the potent pro-inflammatory mediator Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and contributed to identifying a specific mechanism by which these cells process the cytokine precursor and regulate its secretion. This research paves the way for exploring innovative strategies to modulate inflammation by controlling the secretion of IL-1β by neutrophils.

Dr. Trevani has mentored and trained human resources, supervising doctoral theses, postdoctoral fellows, young researchers, and a master’s student. She has also served as Secretary (2005–2006), Vice President (2019), and President (2020) of the Argentine Society of Immunology, and more recently as Secretary of the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Immunology (ALACI, 2022–2024). Her institutional contributions include serving as Vice-Director of IMEX (2011–2020) and as a member of its Board of Directors (2012–2021; 2024–present).
